The Fight Brief exists to teach you the sport while you watch it. Most UFC coverage is written for people who already follow it closely — it assumes you know the names, the divisions and the history. This doesn’t.
Pick any fight on the site and a couple of minutes later you know who the two fighters are, how each of them wins, what the stats actually mean, and what kind of fight you’re about to watch. Do that for a few fights and you stop needing us for the easy ones. That’s the idea. You shouldn’t need years of fandom to enjoy a Saturday card, and you shouldn’t have to do homework to get there.
What you’ll actually learn
Enough to follow a card without anyone explaining it to you. How judges score a round and why so many decisions get argued about. The difference between a knockout, a TKO and a submission. What the weight classes are and why fighters cut to make them. What a significant strike is, and why the number on the broadcast graphic isn’t the whole story. Why one fighter is favoured and what the odds are really saying.
None of it is jargon for its own sake. Every term gets explained the first time it appears, on every page, because nobody should have to read our archive in order to read one fight breakdown.
How it works
Every card gets a page, and every bout on it — main event to the first prelim — gets a full breakdown: who each fighter is, their style, their real career numbers, their recent form, and what to expect when the cage door closes. Upcoming cards go live as soon as the bout lists firm up and are refreshed through fight week.
Who runs this
The Fight Brief is written and edited by Will Dukas, who is responsible for everything published here. It launched in July 2026. It is an independent outlet — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for the UFC, Zuffa LLC, or any promotion or fighter.
How the writing gets made
This site is small and it publishes a lot, and it does that with AI assistance. Fight breakdowns, fighter profiles and explainers are drafted with AI and reviewed before they go up. We would rather tell you that than have you wonder.
What that does not mean is that anything here is unchecked. Every number on this site — records, statistics, measurements, results — is verified against primary sources before it is published. When a number can’t be verified, we leave it blank rather than guess, which is why you will see the occasional dash where other sites show a figure. Fight results require two independent sources that agree before they are posted. No result, record or statistic is ever generated from memory.
Style reads, matchup notes and predictions are opinion, and they are labelled as such. Nothing here is betting advice.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes. When you tell us, we fix it quickly and we don’t quietly edit around it. If you spot an error — a wrong record, a bad result, a fighter listed in the wrong division — email editor@thefightbrief.com and it gets corrected.
