The read
Both men finish at a high clip and both are coming off losses, which usually points to urgency over caution.
If Alvarez can get this to the mat he's a real threat to add a submission win, but Njokuani's suspect takedown defense cuts against him here more than his power cuts in his favor.
Given the short-notice nature of the booking and Alvarez's own recent submission loss, don't rule out an early Njokuani knockout if the Spaniard rushes the clinch.

“Bang Bang”
Chidi 'Bang Bang' Njokuani is a 37-year-old Muay Thai-schooled power puncher out of Saekson Janjira Muay Thai in Texas, the son of Nigerian immigrants who has been finishing fights professionally since 2007 across Bellator, RFA and now the UFC. Fifteen of his 25 career wins have come by knockout, and he owns some of the loudest one-punch power in the welterweight division (his record also includes one no contest, not reflected in the win-loss total). The last calendar year has been unkind — back-to-back losses to Jake Matthews and Carlos Leal have put him on a two-fight skid heading into UFC 330. His takedown defense and gas tank have been exposed in recent outings, but his raw power means he's live against anyone who steps in with him.

Joel 'El Fenomeno' Alvarez is a 33-year-old Spanish standout who built his 23-4 record on a diet of chokes, submitting 17 of his 23 victims with a BJJ brown belt and elite scrambling instincts — he's never been submitted himself. Once viewed as a pure lightweight grappler, he's added real pop to his hands in recent years, headlined by a flying-knee knockout of Drakkar Klose. He was riding a four-fight tear before a second-round submission loss to former Bellator champion Yaroslav Amosov this past May. He was already in Islam Makhachev's camp as a sparring partner — mimicking Ian Machado Garry's length for Makhachev's own UFC 330 title defense — when the call came to step in on short notice against Njokuani at welterweight.
