The result
Steven Koslow def. Chad Anheliger — Submission (rear-naked choke), R3 4:31
Steven Koslow's game plan went exactly to form as he submitted Chad Anheliger for his first UFC win.
Koslow took Anheliger down in each of the first two rounds to control him on the mat, then took his back in round three and finished with a rear-naked choke at 4:31.
The breakdown below was written before the fight.
The read
Koslow's entire game plan runs through getting this to the mat and hunting a submission, and he has never needed a backup plan yet.
Anheliger's experience and durability against comparable competition make him the safer pick, especially if he can keep the fight standing where Koslow has never won.
The matchup
This is a pure submission threat against a durable, well-rounded veteran fighting at home.
Koslow has never won any other way than by tapout, which makes his path obvious, but Anheliger's finishing rate and far greater experience against tougher competition make him a live threat everywhere the fight goes.
