José Luiz, known as Montanha (Portuguese for Mountain), is a 6-foot-4 Brazilian heavyweight from Tangará da Serra making his UFC debut. Four of his six pro wins have come by submission, including back-to-back first-round rear-naked chokes on the Brazilian regional scene in 2025. His career has been stop-and-start — he debuted in 2016 and has fought just seven times since, with his only loss a 2022 decision to Richard Jacobi. He's a genuine unknown at this level, but heavyweight grapplers with finishing instincts always have a puncher's — or in his case, a choker's — chance.
