Tom Nolan stopped Renato Moicano with a third-round TKO to headline UFC Vegas 123: Moicano vs. Nolan on Saturday at Meta Apex in Las Vegas, turning a main event the sportsbooks couldn't separate into the biggest win of his career. Moicano controlled the first two rounds on the mat before Nolan hurt him with a knee and finished with elbows and punches, extending his own unbeaten run to ten straight and pulling him into lightweight title contention at his opponent's expense.
The main event: Nolan breaks through
Moicano vs. Nolan opened as close to a true coin flip as a sportsbook prices a fight, and it played that way for two rounds. Moicano, the No. 8-ranked lightweight, used his wrestling to control the opening two rounds, including a body triangle from back mount that referee Dan Miragliotta stood the fighters up from — a decision that drew criticism in the moment. Nolan, ranked 11th, turned the fight in round three, hurting Moicano with a knee before finishing with elbows and punches at 1:28 for the stoppage.
The result is Nolan's tenth straight win without a loss and his first as a UFC headliner, and it should move him up the lightweight ladder past the man he just beat. For Moicano, it's the second loss in his last three fights, following a short-notice title-shot loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 311 and a decision loss to Beneil Dariush, with only his submission win over Chris Duncan in April breaking up the skid.
The rest of the main card
Jacobe Smith def. Randy Brown, decision (unanimous), round 3. Smith, a heavy favorite who took the fight on 12 days' notice, stayed unbeaten at 14-0, grinding out a 30-26 sweep on all three scorecards. His wrestling was the difference — repeated takedowns and top control against the veteran Brown, whom he also cut over the eyebrow along the way. Brown's skid reaches three straight losses; Smith is now calling for a ranked opponent next.
Luana Santos def. Yana Santos, decision (unanimous), round 3. The all-Santos women's bantamweight bout went the other namesake's way, with Luana's takedowns and top control earning a 29-28 sweep across a tight three rounds. The win extends her streak to four and reinforces her standing as the division's No. 4 contender; Yana, ranked sixth and fighting for the first time in over a year, falls short in her bid to build toward a second UFC title shot.
Cody Durden def. Ode Osbourne, decision (unanimous), round 3. The only true market upset on the main card, Durden entered as the underdog and still swept the cards 29-28 in a long-delayed rebooking. His grappling and top control won him the first two rounds before he survived a late rally from Osbourne, who took the third but couldn't close the gap. Osbourne drops his third straight.
Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani def. Farman Hasanov, TKO (doctor stoppage, cut), round 3, 2:11. Lebosnoyani handed the previously unbeaten Hasanov the first loss of his career, opening a cut near Hasanov's left eye that the cageside doctor ruled he couldn't continue with. The win is Lebosnoyani's third straight in the UFC, moving him to 3-0 in the promotion.

Julian Erosa provided the night's feel-good story, capping his announced retirement fight with a come-from-behind first-round knockout. He was dropped early by a left hook from Jeong Yeong Lee before recovering, dropping Lee with a right hand, and finishing with follow-up punches at 1:31 — walking away on a win as the betting underdog. Dakota Hope got his first UFC victory the hard way, surviving an early leg-kick barrage from Francis Marshall before working behind him for a split-decision win. Lucia Szabova made her UFC debut memorable, improving to 13-0 by stopping Tainara Lisboa with ground strikes in the third round after working through a crucifix into full mount. Joe Kropschot's promotional debut ended in a second-round armbar after Nick Klein's own takedown backfired into a lost scramble and a finishing arm lock. Piera Rodriguez, the No. 9-ranked strawweight, swept the cards against 14th-ranked Talita Alencar in a fight briefly interrupted by an arena lighting malfunction. And Zachary Reese overcame a first-round point deduction for an accidental eye poke to out-strike Mickey Gall and snap his own two-fight skid, while Gall's own winless run reaches five fights with no victory since 2021.
What it means
Nolan's win reshuffles a crowded lightweight top ten more than it creates a new star overnight — he was the slight underdog on fight night and is now the man standing on the better side of a ranked win, while Moicano needs a bounce-back fight to stay in the championship picture he once contended for. Durden's underdog decision and Erosa's retirement-fight knockout were the two results that beat the number on the board; the rest of the main card went roughly as the market expected.
